horse final resolution
to continue using timelines to represent transport I have designed this to represent that, using techniques I have used before of spraying over plate fragments to create a mix of harsh and soft lines as well as stencilling to create the cog patterns and silhouettes, then refined using white acrylic pen. this piece depicts a horse in the centre, encircled by gears, this on the car rim is another representation of the timelines to represent the beasts of burden, the age of steam and the modern era.
taking this plan into action I started by spraying the rim black and covered the centre with paper to prevent is from being affected while I placed cogs onto the surface while it was still tacky, this would prevent them from sliding off and sprayed the surface with red, blue silver and gold, I then placed fragments of broken plates and sprayed over with black, the plate fragments were then removed and the colours applied a second time so that the difference in the black and colour is not so harsh, while still wet I removed the cogs so they would give a smudged appearance and blend well with the background. to create the centre I placed the inverse of stencil used to cover it so that all but the middle was covered, I then placed the horse stencil within this, after placing these stencils I sprayed black and gold paint into the centre without giving them time to dry, this allowed the paint to bleed somewhat through the horse stencil giving a metallic piebald effect and the paint could be ran to prevent an even blend. however the horse did not stand out as much as intended so I outlined sections so that it would stand out more.

since these are designed to surround my final resolution I had to ensure that the background complements the piece without overpowering it. to achieve that I decided to use the experiments featuring pva glue mixed with spray paint to create these, this is because it create a fragmented effect like the plates but on a much smaller scale making the best complement to the final. in addition to this using a back background will also work with the final as it will still have a distinct separation but not one harsh enough to draw attention away from the final resolution.

because I liked most of  a previous piece I decided to recreate it to fit as best as it can to the final resolution. to achieve this I used similar techniques however I reduces the ratio of water used within the mixture and did not use any cogs as stencils, I refrained from using excessive quantities of silver as well as using no blue in this piece. by changing these I was able to create a piece that still held its own but does not overpower the final resolution, in addition to this the reduced amount of water reduced how much the paper wrinkled allowing for a more professional appearance.
to improve I should have used less silver within this and possible spent money to buy a board as that would not have changed shape.
bringing them together
after planning and executing the design for the rim and three attempts to create a suitable background  I had settled on this final resolution. in order to make the car rim stand out as much as possible I coordinated the colours using the cool colours aligned to the rim and the warmer colours opposing those with the silver and blue on one side and the black, red and gold on the other, to enhance this I used silver in the centre in both the rim and painting to draw attention to that line in the centre in which is broken with the horse, drawing the eye to that element. the circles in the background are also used to work with the centrepiece and connect them through shape and colour.

the representation created by this this piece is the progression of transport, showing how technology has expanded outward the further it develops the more variety it gains, all centred back to beasts o burden, turning in an endless cycle as means of transport are used, become outdated and are then improved upon or replaced with everything old going into making the new weather that be rescores or knowledge transport is becoming forever more advanced and will continue to do so for as land as humankind exists.
