backgrounds
acting upon a suggestion from a classmate I tried mixing pva glue with the spray paint
I found that the two bonded but did not mix, as a result it left a cracked surface but change depending on weather the glue was spread over the surface, run in a continuous line or left in a concentrated area. as a result of this it works well as an addition to another piece but is not substantial enough alone, as a result of this pieces like this would be useful as background material.
using this I created two pieces on a3 paper, each using a mixture of pva and spray paint. for the first I ran the mixture over the paper to create a continuous line and for the other I did the same but used a piece of card to spread it over the paper, additional spray paint was then added to the pieces, the final effects of these pieces is not fully visible until dry and my main concern was that the pva would be visible however this was not the case as the spray paint is pushed to the surface of the glue. I have used metallic colours as these best represent the constructs related to my theme, since the most recent forms of transport short metallic materials or colours with silver being popular within modern vehicles and brass for older constructs, in addition these colours work best, showing up the brightest on a black background.
comparing the two, the method of smudging the mixture of spray paint and pva works the best as it allowed the entire page to be covered in addition it diffuses the tone, to cover the page without smudging the paint would probably produce a better effect however that would take a lot of time and spray paint, which in tern would be more costly.
